Photography and text by Ekaterina Juskowski @juskowski
Hydra Art Summer 2024 season showcased a series of high-profile exhibitions and events that firmly established the island as a premier global destination for the art world. Anchored by the Deste Weekend, the vibrant program extended from summer into fall. Major highlights included George Condo’s solo show The Mad and the Lonely, presented by the Deste Foundation at the Hydra Slaughterhouse Project Space; 8 Femmes group show curated by Dimitrios Antonitsis for the 25th anniversary of his Hydra School Projects; and The Warp of Time site-specific art exhibition at the Old Carpet Factory mansion commemorating the 100th anniversary of its name - the collaboration between Soutzoglou Carpets and Mnemosyne Projects supported by the Gagosian gallery.

The Mad and the Lonely, a solo exhibition of works by George Condo opened at DESTE’s Project Space, a former Slaughterhouse on the island of Hydra. The opening took place as always on a Monday evening was open to the guests of the island, art vips and locals.
Jeff Koons' Razzle Dazzle design on the side of Guilty plays with the idea of a mirage. A calmer sea creates reflections and produces a doubling effect in the pattern, making it even more abstract.
